Small People Playing Big Music !
Following their sensational success at Craigcrook Castle and on The Mound last year, and fresh from their appearance at Marlborough Jazz Festival this year, The Thundering Herd Big Band is returning to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival at the end of August 2011.
The Thundering Herd Big Band will once again fly the flag for youth jazz at the Fringe. Featuring current and former pupils of Farleigh School, with an average age of just 12, they sure can play !
The Thundering Herd's repertoire stems from the classic era of 1940s Swing, including numbers by Count Basie, Duke Ellington, George Gerswhin, and Glen Miller. And there's much more besides.
Richard Demarco CBE, the well-known Edinburgh impresario (who has attended the Festival every year since it began), last year placed The Thundering Herd in his all-time top ten musical acts on the Fringe !
The band will certainly be one of the youngest acts on the Fringe, as well as featuring amongst an ever-dwindling number of musical acts on the Fringe. Get it while it's hot !
The Thundering Herd come super-charged by the legendary Chuff Byrne of 'Slaughterhouse Seven' fame.
